Meet our Founder, Rosa

In 2018, I started @sex&empathy to reach a world beyond my grasp. To take the classroom virtually, and create the space needed for evolving conversations around intimacy and culture - with a bit of my own journey sprinkled in.

I am a Public Health professional, Certified Community Health Worker, and Certified Perinatal Educator and Doula with nearly 10 years of experience in sexual health education and promotion. I've lived between worlds for most of my life - navigating cultures, language, and professions. Often, building connections and translating - making concepts less complex, taboo, or scary.

I advocate for Intimacy Literacy - a skill that each and every individual can acquire to learn about their bodies, strengthen their sexual health, and flourish within interpersonal relationships. I care deeply about the ways in which our bodies, minds, and hearts navigate our complex socio-cultural landscape - from dating apps to buying your first sex toy to talking to your immigrant parents about your queer identity, to preparing for the birth you deserve.

What is CNXN?

In short: Intimacy Literacy for curious lovers, partners, parents, and friends.

In detail: Connexión is the first multicultural, multi-lingual intimacy resource center in RI that supports adult learners through compassionate sex-education and application and childbirth education and accompaniment.

How?

We work via instruction, resource-sharing, open-dialogue, and activities in peer-based and personalized environments, applying concepts across public health, behavioral science, maternal health, sex research - utilizing a culturally flexible approach.

Why?

For the improvement of sexual, relational, and perinatal wellness and the prevention of unwanted sexual health consequences, discomfort or pain, trauma, and abuse.

  • Connexión works with mentees to offer drop-in sessions, ongoing mentorship, peer learning opportunities and doula services.

    We also work with institutions, organizations, and large groups to offer speaking and consulting opportunities regarding sexual, maternal, and relational wellness.

    Offerings can be virtual or in-person for RI-based individuals and groups.
